Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup (70 g) all purpose flour
  • ½ cup (50 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • 1/8 pinch salt
  • ½ cup (113 g, 8 tbsp or 1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) white granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs at room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup (6 oz) chocolate chips (milk or dark), optional

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat the oven at 350ºF (180ºC).
  2. Mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  3. In a medium pot melt the butter on the stove over medium low heat. Remove from the stove and let it cool slightly.
  4. Place the melted butter in a large bowl and mix well with the white sugar. Add the eggs one at a time and beat just enough to incorporate them. Then add the vanilla extract and mix again. Now add the flour mixture and mix to incorporate. Make sure to scrape off the sides and bottom of the bowl with a spatula. Finally add the chocolate chips and mix.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 8 x 8 inch (20 x 20 cm) pan and spread evenly. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until the sides of the brownies start to pull away from the pan. Do not overcook. Let them cool completely before serving.
