Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup (120 ml) water
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) rum (optional)
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp dehydrated onion or 2 tbsp white onion, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tsp ground ginger or 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup (8 oz or 250 g) guava paste cut into small pieces
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Add all the ingredients, except the salt and pepper to a medium pot and bring it to a boil on medium high heat.
  2. Reduce the heat to low-medium low and simmer for about 20 minutes or until it thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Let it cool and serve. You can refrigerate it in an airtight container for up to one week.
