This amazing recipe is a healthier take on the classic orange chicken but with all the flavor. It is not deep fried, contains a lower amount of sodium, and uses fresh orange juice and brown sugar for sweetness.
1½lbschicken breast or chicken thighs cut into small pieces
2tbspoil
3clovesgarlic(minced)
Sesame seeds(Optional)
2green onions(chopped (Optional))
Marinade
1tbspsoy sauce
1clovegarlic(minced)
⅛tspbaking soda
¼cup59 ml water
Orange sauce
½cup118 ml fresh orange juice
1tbspfresh orange zest
3tbspsoy sauce
2tbsprice vinegar
1tbsphoisin sauce **See notes
½tspground ginger
¼cup50 g brown sugar
2tbspred pepper flakes **See notes
3tbspcornstarch

Instructions
Mix the ingredients for the marinade in a medium-sized bowl. Add the chicken and stir well. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
In a small bowl, mix all of the ingredients for the orange sauce and set aside.
Heat the oil in a large pan and add the three cloves of garlic. Stir fry for about 1 minute. Add the chicken and cook until golden brown.
Add the sauce to the pan, lower the heat, and simmer for a few minutes until it thickens.
Serve immediately and garnish with the sesame seeds and/or green onion.

Notes
You can substitute hoisin sauce with teriyaki or oyster sauce.Use your favorite hot chili sauce instead of the red pepper flakes to add spiciness to this dish.
